Non-profit contemporary art gallery "OkNo" was opened on March 21, 2001, in the framework of the same project, supported by the open society Institute" (Soros Foundation).
The gallery has:
– exhibition of works of contemporary art (all forms of non-traditional art);
– Internet, land art, music and theatre projects.
– research in psychology and sociology about the impact of modern art on a person's life and, in particular, residents of Chelyabinsk;
– publishing activities (posters, booklets, catalogues of their projects);
– seminars on contemporary art;
– participates in the Biennale, conferences, seminars;
– collaborating and preparing joint projects with art Centres and galleries of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Tagil, Kaliningrad, Czech Republic, Germany, Canada.
The main direction of this activity is to facilitate the actualization of artistic processes in Chelyabinsk, overcoming cultural isolation, "enable" Chelyabinsk art in the context of contemporary art of Russia and the West.
